The aluminum chloride iodide LAlClI (2, L = HC[(CMe)(NAr)]2, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3) hasbeen synthesized to study the stepwise hydrolysis of this compound in the presence of 1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene as hydrogen halide acceptor.
