The average carbon isotope value (
13C) of 63 samples ofglycerol from over 30 different sources hasbeen determined. The results indicate that it is possible todistinguish the glycerol obtained fromthe glycerides produced in plants following C-3 and C-4 carbon fixationpathways. The samplesobtained from animal sources seem to reflect the composition of thematerial consumed, as well asthat produced by sugar fermentation. Keywords: Autheticity proof; carbon-13; glycerol; animal, vegetal, andfermentative sources
