An efficient domino approach for the synthesis of novel pyrrolo[2,3,4-kl]acridin-1-one derivatives has been established. This reaction represents the first facile conversion of an isatin to a pyrrolo[2,3,4-kl]acridin-1-one via a C鈥揘 bond cleavage reaction without the need for a multistep reaction process.
