The intramolecular aldol-like condensationof two acetimino ligands has been observed for the firsttime to occur in [Rh(Cp*)Cl(NH=CMe₂)₂]ClO₄ (1·ClO₄),under catalytic or stoichiometric reaction conditions, togive [Rh(Cp*)Cl{N,N-NH=C(Me)CH₂C(Me)₂NH₂}]X (2·X, X = Cl, ClO₄). The crystal structures of 1·ClO₄ and2·Cl have been determined.
