Areneselenenic acids (ArSeOH), readily generated from diaryl diselenides and H₂O₂ by in situ oxidation, were found to be effective and reusable catalysts for dehydration of aldoximes, leading to a practical and scalable preparation of useful organonitriles under mild conditions.
