The synthesis and characterization of theC2v symmetric(dimethylsilanediylbis(9-fluorenyl))zirconium dichloride (I) and(dimethylsilanediylbis(9-fluorenyl))zirconiumdimethyl(II) are reported. The crystal and molecular structureof II has been solved. The catalystsystem I/MAO and II/MAO (MAO = methylalumoxane)produce high-molecular-weightatactic polypropylene at relatively high polymerization temperatures(r.gif">w = (1-4) × 105at50 C and Al/Zr = 1200) in good yields, providing a practical entryto this novel, elastomericpropylene homopolymer.
