Donor鈥揂cceptor Semiconducting Polymers Containing Benzodithiophene with Bithienyl Substituents

Synthesis and photovoltaic properties of two donor鈥揳cceptor polymers containing benzodithiophene with 3,3鈥?5-trihexylbithienyl substituents are reported. Benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole and 5-hexylthieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione were used as acceptor building blocks for the synthesis of donor鈥揳cceptor polymers. The photovoltaic properties of the synthesized donor鈥揳cceptor polymers were investigated in bulk heterojunction solar cells with [6,6]-phenyl-C<sub>61sub>-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) acceptor.
