2), have been preparedand found to form three-dimensional cubic networks in the solidstate. Each structure is similarly composed of dioxane-connectedNa
6O
6 aggregates that act as octahedral nodes in directing theassembly process. Although the localized metrical parameters withinthe hexameric cages are similar to each other, as well as to thoseof the molecular analogue [(4-F-C
6H
4ONa)
6·(THF)
8] (
3), the grossarchitectures show significant variations. In particular, the smallercomplex
2 ensures effective filling of space through transannularNa-F interaggregate interactions, resulting in substantial compression of the cubic framework.
