An automated method for high-throughput nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been developedusing a four-coil Multiplex NMR probe. The probe isconstructed with solenoidal microcoils optimized fordetection of small volume, mass-limited samples and aflow-through design. Four samples can be simultaneouslyinjected into the Multiplex probe with a robotics liquidhandler and then analyzed in rapid succession using aselective excitation experiment. Due to the simultaneousinjection of four samples and the reduced analysis timewith rapid selective excitation, the analysis rate achievedthus far is as low as 1 sample/34 s for 1D 1H NMR.
