Magnetic measurements indicatelittle or no interaction between the V(III) ions in II but amodestantiferromagnetic coupling in I. These complexes shouldbe good models for the possible modes of bondingbetween V(III) and biological phosphates such as DNA as well as provideinsight into one of the common structuralmotifs present in vanadium(III) phosphate solid statematerials.
