Dicationic chalcogenolate-bridged diruthenium complexes have been newly prepared by reactionsof the neutral diruthenium dichloride complexes[Cp*RuCl(
2-YR)]2 (Y = S, Se, Te; R = Me, iPr) with 2equiv of silver trifluoromethanesulfonate. Reactions ofpropargylic alcohols with acetone in the presence of acatalytic amount of these dicationic complexes afford thecorresponding hexadienones in moderate to good yields,in sharp contrast to the formation of 
-ketoalkynes whenneutral or monocationic diruthenium complexes areemployed as catalysts.
