The cracking
of the waxes
obtained in the flash pyr
olysis
of p
olypr
opylene has been studied in lab
orat
oryFCC units under the standard c
onditi
ons in FCC (fluid catalytic cracking) units. The reacti
on equipment ispr
ovided with a riser simulat
or react
or, and the experiments have been carried
out using a c
ommercial equilibriumcatalyst, with a catalyst/feed rati
o of C/O = 5.5, in the 500-550
C range and f
or c
ontact times between 3 and12 s. The effect
of these
operating c
onditi
ons
on the yields
of pr
oducts and
on the c
omp
ositi
on
of gas andgas
oline lumps has been studied. The results have been c
ompared with th
ose
of VGO (vacuum gas
oil) cracking, which is the standard FCC feed in refineries, and with th
ose
of a mixture
of VGO (80 wt %) and waxes (20wt %).
