Reduced cobaloxime (cobaloxime = [(pyridine)(dimethylglyoxime)₂cobalt]) compounds reactwith a variety of oxygen-substituted allenic and propargyl electrophiles to produce cobaloxime-substituted mages/gifchars/alpha.gif" BORDER=0>,mages/gifchars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">- or mages/gifchars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">,mages/gifchars/gamma.gif" BORDER=0 >-unsaturated ketones and aldehydes. Two of the newunsaturated acyl complexes prepared have been characterized by X-ray crystallography.Several of the mages/gifchars/alpha.gif" BORDER=0>,mages/gifchars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-unsaturated acyl complexes were subsequently converted into 1-cobaloxime-1,3-dienyl complexes using Peterson or Petasis olefinations. One of these new dienylcomplexes has also been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
