Tetrafunctional Silanes of the Formula Type Si(CH2X)4 (X = SAc, SH, OAc, OH, Br, I)

The tetrafunctional silanes Si(CH2SAc)4 (1), Si(CH2SH)4 (2), Si(CH2OAc)4 (3), Si(CH2OH)4 (4), Si(CH2Br)4 (5), andSi(CH2I)4 (6) were synthesized, starting from Si(CH2Cl)4.Compounds 1-6 were characterized by NMR studies (1H,13C,29Si) and elemental analyses, and the silanes 4-6 wereadditionally studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1-6 are challenging starting materials for the synthesisof further tetrafunctional silanes of the general formula typeSi(CH2X)4, including compounds with different substituents X.
