Microporous stannosilicate (K2SnSi3O9·H2O) and titanosilicate (K2TiSi3O9·H2O) with an umbite structurehave been prepared as continuous membranes in about 5 
m thick layers on porous 
-alumina and TiO2tubular supports by seeded hydrothermal synthesis. These membranes are able to separate H2 from N2,CO2, and propane with good selectivity. Some stability problems appeared probably related to the reversibledehydration of the membranes.
