We report an inorganic, highly selective structural sensor for cesium ions that effectively works at room temperature in water solutions with different competing alkaline elements. The process of sensing realizes via selective transformation of Na3MnH(P0.9O4)2 to a new type of struvite-like cesium-containing solid CsMn(PO4)·6H2O. The inclusion of the cesium in the structure is stable and no reverse exchange is possible.
