Carbon nanotubes have been grown on both sides of a nickel-chromium substrate in methanol using radiofrequency inductionheating. Hollow multiwalled carbon nanotubes were obtained that stood uniformly on both sides of the nickel-chromium substrate withoutadded catalyst. The mechanism of nanotube growth is a catalytic process that takes place at the substrate surface under thermal nonequilibrium.
