Growth, Structure, and Spectral Characterization of LiNd(WO4)2

LiNd(WO4)2 crystal with dimensions up to 25 × 32 × 12 mm3 was grown from a flux of Li2W2O7 by the TSSGmethod. LiNd(WO4)2 crystallizes in the tetragonal system with space group I4(1)/a (C4h6) and cell parameters a = b = 5.2525Å, c= 11.397 Å, Z = 2, V = 314.43 Å3, D = 6.843 g/cm3. The polarized optical absorption and fluorescence spectra of LiNd(WO4)2crystal were investigated. LiNd(WO4)2 crystal has large absorption cross-sections of 1.13 × 10 -20 and 0.97 × 10-20 cm2 at 805 nmfor E//x and E//y, respectively. It has large emission cross-sections of 67.68 × 10-20 cm2 at 1063 nm and 72.52 × 10-20 cm2 at 1068nm for E//y and E//x, respectively. The fluorescence lifetime is 16.3 s at room temperature. The maximum pulse laser output was11.96 mJ at 1.06 mm. The overall and slope efficiencies were 0.038 and 0.04%, respectively. The laser energy threshold value Ethwas 5.03 J.
