We report the facile synthesis of C₆₀ functionalized A₂D₂ (A = acceptor and D = donor) metallacycles M1 and M2, using the insight from platinum(II)鈥損yridine coordination driven self-assembly in combination with organo-fullerene chemistry. Both supramolecular adducts are soluble in common organic solvents, which facilitates their structural characterization by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, UV鈥搗is spectroscopy, and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry.
