In this Communication, we report the fabrication of well-crystallizedrutile-phase TiO2 hollow spheres using potassium titanium oxalateas the precursor. The spheres exhibited unique three-dimensionalhierarchical architectures and demonstrated a significantly improvedphotocatalytic performance. The synthetic strategy used in thisprocess represents a general approach and therefore maycontribute to the formation mechanisms of hollow nanostructures.
