The use of mid-IR spectroscopy as a real-time monitoring toolfor hydrogenation reactions is illustrated. This technique wasused for both qualitative and quantitative purposes to monitorthe hydrogenation of three different functional groups. Theresults show that this technique can be successfully used as analternative to traditional off-line methods to monitor thereaction endpoint and the formation of impurities.
