The disilane derivative 2-(dichloromethylsilyl)-2-methyl-1,3-diphenyl-1,3,2-diazasilolidine wasreacted with a salen-type tetradentate ligand to yielda pentacoordinate methylsilane with a silylated ligand.This surprising rearrangement reaction-with Si-Sibond cleavage and Si-C bond formation at 0 C withouta catalyst and without special external energy input suchas irradiation-is confirmed by X-ray structure analysisas well as 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR spectroscopic data ofthis novel hypercoordinate silicon complex.
