In this paper, we report a novel and simple molten-salt method, for the first time, to synthesize long single-crystal ferroelectric and photocatalyst material barium dititanate (BaTi2O5) nanobelts (width of 30−500 nm and lengths of up to several hundred micrometers) using BaTiO3 polycrystal powders as the precursor by a molten-salt medium process. This method is one-step and uses no organic dispersant or capping agent, which is a very green chemistry route. The product was characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission microscopy (HRTEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
