Meiotic abnormalities have been studied in Siberian spruce growing in the Southern Urals under different ecological conditions: in contrasting natural landscapes (high mountains, plains, river valleys and floodplains), in zones of natural geochemical anomalies, and in areas with different levels of industrial pollution. The results provide evidence for an adverse effect of technogenic pollution and extreme environmental factors on the process of microsporogenesis in the species studied.
