In this study, a very sensitive method is described for selective accumulation and determination of trace amounts of antimony based on the antimony–bromopyrogallol red (BPR) complex adsorption onto a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The overall analysis involved a three-step procedure: a closed-circuit accumulation step onto the modified carbon paste electrode, reduction, and anodic stripping. An anodic peak was observed at 0.48?V. This peak which depends on the oxidation of accumulated and reduced Sb(III) on the electrode surface was registered. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.01-4.00?ng?mL?. The limit of detection was found to be 0.0033?ng?mL?, and the relative standard deviations for seven replicated determinations at 3.00 and 8.00?ng?mL? of antimony were obtained to be 2.28 and 1.02?%, respectively. The modified electrode was applied successfully for the analysis of antimony in different water samples. Spiked recoveries for water samples were in the range of 92.0-04.4?%.
