Assessment in the eLearning Course on Academic Writing – A Case Study

Evaluation is an inseparable part of any learning process. It is of high importance because it can either motivate or demotivate students in their studies. The purpose of this article is to discuss assessment as part of the overall evaluation in one eLearning course run at the Faculty of Informatics and Management in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. Firstly, the difference between the evaluation and assessment concept is clarified, and the assessment concept is specified. Secondly, the author of this article discusses the content of the Course of Academic Writing, describes the assessment and its feedback in this course, and shows how students work on their assignments. Finally, she highlights benefits and limitations of such assessment.
