Epidemiology Only 3-- of all injuries around the shoulder region involve fractures of the scapula. Therapy Only an exact knowledge of the fracture pattern and the biomechanical interplay of the shoulder girdle complex allow a differentiated approach to therapeutic treatment. If the decision of surgical treatment is made, the minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis techniques lead to early functional exercising and a good clinical outcome.
