Due to immigration of refugees Social Work experienced a huge rise of interest. Social Work with refugees is located in an area of social conflicts. Different groups and initiatives form a social movement whose focus is solidarity with refugees and they take critical positions against the dominant refugee policy. This movement refers to the human rights. The article discusses the position of Social Work in the contested field of refugee policy. Furthermore considerations on professional standards for social work with refugees will be outlined.
