Background Teeth of the second dentition which have been lost or are inherently absent can be replaced in standardized protocols with the help of various prosthodontic treatments, implants or orthodontic space closure. However, there are limitations for adolescent patients due to jaw growth. Methods In adolescents tooth germ transplants have become an alternative with a scientifically proven long-term prognosis in this age group. Correct indication, planning as well as a minimally invasive surgical procedure reduce complications to a minimum.
