The simultaneous treatment of other chronic wound disorders, which is often necessary in these patients, must also be mastered by cardiac surgeons This article outlines specific concepts to treat typical wound healing disorders after cardiac surgery. Moreover, the different strategies of modern wound healing concepts are discussed and the application of modern wound therapy systems is outlined.
