Background Pelvic ring injuries occur in patients aged 20–30 years old after high energy trauma and also in patients over the age of 65 years predominantly after low energy trauma. The latter have greatly increased. The necessity for treatment depends on the degree of instability and on the accompanying injuries and comorbidities.
