22 years ago a mobile paediatric emergency service was organized in Graz, the capital of Styria, by the Paediatrician Dr. Uwe Enayat. He run the service together with his wife (for telephone support) und occasionally two other paediatricians. Children and adolescents with acute health deteriorations were visited at their homes and parents instructed regarding treatment. Only 1 % of patients needed an urgent admission to the hospital. The majority of diseases were respiratory and abdominal infections. Special regard has been taken for the diffenent kinds of intervention that home services allow. KiMoNo was stopped due the retirement of Dr. Uwe Enayat. Extensive efforts are being made to realise a similar paediatric service in Graz for the future. For supporting parents similar services should be installed in other Austrian cities.
