The paper presents results of metallographic and tribological tests of steel 38X3MA samples coated by nickel-based powder materials using a fiber laser. Microhardness, wear rate, scoring resistance, and antifriction behavior of B83 babbit-surfaced layers were found. The developed technology of laser cladding may be used to recover the worn friction surfaces and increase the reliability and durability of new parts in operation.
