Criminal mutilation and dismemberment of the human body is a rare event. Two very unusual cases are presented with special focus on the phenomenological and psychiatric aspects. In the first case a 71-year-old man was killed by blows to the head with an axe and a cut throat and dismembered into over 100 fragments by his 69-year-old wife. In the second case a 79-year-old man killed and dismembered his wife, packed the parts of the body into five plastic bags and set fire to these bags in the surrounding countryside. In the forensic psychiatric assessment the man was diagnosed as having Pick’s disease.
