Lib>2(1−x)b>Alb>2b>Bb>2b>Ob>7b>:b>xb>Dy3+ (x = 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07 and 0.09 mol) phosphors were prepared by steric sol–gel method. The crystalline nature of the synthesized material was confirmed by using powder X-ray diffraction. The surface morphology and elemental composition analysis has been carried out for Dy3+ doped Lib>2b>Alb>2b>Bb>2b>Ob>7b> phosphor by using transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy techniques. PL measurements indicated that the phosphor exhibited two strong emission transitions such as 4Fb>9/2b> → 6Hb>15/2b> (blue) and 4Fb>9/2b> → 6Hb>13/2b> (yellow) observed in visible region. The concentration quenching is observed at 5 mol% of Dy3+ ions doped Lib>2b>Alb>2b>Bb>2b>Ob>7b> phosphor. The CIE chromaticity coordinates were evaluated for two sharp emissions observed in blue (4Fb>9/2b> → 6Hb>15/2b>) and yellow (4Fb>9/2b> → 6Hb>13/2b>) regions to understand the suitability of these materials for white light generation.
