A new method of the quantitative analysis of poly(hexamethyleneguanidine) (PHMG) salts has been developed based on the phenomenon of fluorescence quenching. The relationship between the fluorescence intensity and the presence of DNA, ethidium bromide, and PHMG in solution was studied. The proposed method consists in titrimetric analysis of PHMG salts using DNA - ethidium bromide complexes detected by spectrofluorimetry. This method was applied to determination of the content of the active substance in a commercial sample of PMHG phosphate.
