Sensitivity of a three and four layer waveguide having metamaterial film is derived and compared. Since, the metamaterials possess unconventional behaviour due to their structural parameters, therefore the sensitivity of proposed three and four layer metamaterial waveguide has been calculated using their respective dispersion relations. By comparing obtained results with the existing results, it is found that the film layer of metamaterial able to enhance the cover layer sensitivity and adlayer sensitivity. Also, the sensitivity of the waveguide sensor depends on both the adlayer thickness and the film thickness but film thickness affects the sensitivity prominently.
