Mild allergic reactions are a common reason for presentation of patients in pediatric emergency departments. Severe anaphylaxis with systemic, potentially life-threatening symptoms is a rare event but necessitates rapid and effective intervention with the appropriate measures. The most important measure is the rapid intramuscular administration of adrenaline. Additionally, it is important to adequately inform and educate patients and parents and to prescribe emergency sets with the most important medications for domestic administration in order to prevent a severe anaphylactic reaction in these patients in the future.
