Facile and reliable route for preparation PbMoO4 nanostructures with different shapes and its photocatalyst application

Lead molybdate (PbMoO4) nanostructures, has been successfully prepared via a simple precipitation method. In this method, lead acetate trihydrate and ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate were applied as starting reagents to fabricate PbMoO4 nanostructures. The effect of different capping agents like valine, alanine, and glycine on the morphology and particle size of the products has been investigated. The as-synthesized nanostructures were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis), and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX). According to the vibrating sample magnetometer, lead molybdate (PbMoO4) nanostructures indicated a ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature. To evaluate the catalytic properties of nanocrystalline lead molybdate, the photocatalytic degradations of methyl orange under ultraviolet light irradiation were carried out.
