The article debates right wing extremist and populist success in elections and mobilization and its consequences for social work. After a view on empirical results on the distribution of right wing extremist attitudes it is being discussed if contemporary society faces an aggravated problem constellation. Concerning social work it will be argued that this constellation is not only an external problem, but likewise a professional and disciplinary one.
