We developed a simple ion exchange method to isolate 111In from an irradiated natural cadmium target, including cadmium, copper and zinc impurities. In this work, after dissolving the surface of the target, we estimated the metal ions distribution coefficients (K d) by the batch method using AG 1-X8 anion exchanger under various conditions. Based on the K d results, we carried out column experiments to separate 111In from interfering ions. The radiochemical and radionuclidic purity amounted to 95 and 99 % under optimal condition while metal impurities were found to be less than 0.6 ppm.
