Incidence of rectal cancer in developed countries is estimated around 30.000 cases a year, and overall survival at 5 years is 55%. Modern Imaging technologies are now available in Senegal, and therefore should help to improve therapeutic management of rectal cancer in such underdeveloped countries. Authors reported 32 rectal cancer MRI cases in 20 months. Patients underwent MRI in a 1.5 Tesla equipment. Among 17 patients coming for preoperative assessment, MRI helped to predict circumferential resection marginmargin and distal margin in 16 cases. This confirms MRI as a high-performing tool for predicting rectal tumor resecability criterias.
