Distribution and Diversity of Lichenized Fungi Colonizing Jageshwar Group of Temples, Almora, Uttarakhand
文摘
Present study describes the lichen species compositions which are colonizing Jageshwar monuments and offers a list of lichens found growing over this group of temple, providing the first contribution to the knowledge of lichens on this divine man-made substratum. A total of 18 lichen genera (Aspicilia, Bacidia, Buellia, Caloplaca, Candelariella, Endocarpon, Flavoparmelia, Heterodermia, Hyperphyscia, Lecanora, Lepraria, Leptogium, Pertusaria, Phaeophyscia, Porpidia, Punctelia, Ramalina and Verrucaria) belonging to 13 families were identified colonizing these monuments. The results of the present study show that the most important lichen inhabitants of these monuments were Caloplaca, Phaeophyscia, Lecanora, Punctelia, and Lepraria. The study also reveals that besides lichens, the most important inhabitants of these monuments are eukaryotic green algae and bryophytes, forming greenish spots and coloration on almost the whole stone surface in different density.
