An experimental investigation on the workability behavior of Fe–C–Mn sintered powder metallurgy preforms was performed for an aspect ratio 0.45 and 0.60 with variations in carbon content (0.05 and 0.20) under uni-axial stress state condition. The powder composites were generated by high energy ball mill and were compacted by using a punch and die assembly with UTM and then sintered at 900 °C. Cold deformation experiments were conducted until fine cracks appeared on its free surface. The characteristics of various stress and strain parameters with respect to relative density were also analyzed.KeywordsWorkabilityFe–C–MnPowder metallurgyDensity ratioUniaxial compactionStrain
