Medical doctors and caregivers in hospital departments faced with the death of their patients, as in oncology, are especially exposed to burnout syndrome, as presented by H.J. Freudenberger and C. Maslach. Somatic, psychological, and behavioral symptoms could be understood from psychodynamic, psychosocial, or institutional points of view. Besides the problems involved in the burden and organization of work in hospital; communication training with patients and their relatives, as well as the collective elaboration of difficult situations, staff meeting, or group analysis of professional practices, develops some means of warning or stemming burnout.
