In present study the different solvent extracts from seeds of Glory lily, Gloriosa superba were evaluated for their antifeedancy and growth inhibitory potential against a polyphagous pest, Spodoptera litura. Chloroform extract followed by chloroform:methanol (4:1) extract was found most effective as antifeedant as well as insect growth regulatory (IGR). GSS 4 (chloroform extract) was most effective with AI50 7 ppm. Present study revealed that G. Superba has excellent potential to provide naturally occurring, effective tool in integrated management of crop pest that may be utilized for insect pest control.
