The hydrolysis of solutions, containing either LiMo$\_2$O$\_4$(OPr$^i$)$\_5$($^i$PrOH) and“La(OPr$^i$)$\_3$” or LiOPr$^i$ andLa$\_2$Mo$\_4$O$\_8$(OPr$^i$)$\_\{14\}$ in 1 : 1 ratio, in toluene or$^i$PrOH, by water solutions in isopropanol, leads to formation ofmonolythic gels. The latter can be converted by drying and heat treatmentat 600$^\backslash circ$C into a fine powder of pure$\backslash alpha$-LiLaMo$\_2$O$\_8$ phase,which is transformed into$\backslash beta$-LiLaMo$\_2$O$\_8$ powder by annealing at800$^\backslash circ$C. The sintering of the pellets pressed under 4bar pressure of $\backslash alpha$-LiLaMo$\_2$O$\_8$ powder at800$^\backslash circ$C for 2 h converts them intopieces of $\backslash beta$-LiLaMo$\_2$O$\_8$ transparentceramics, thus providing aroute to LiLnMo$\_2$O$\_8$ laser waveguide materials.
