A new kind of micellar polyoxometalate (POM) [C16H33N(CH3)3]5PV2Mo10O40 has been synthesized via ion exchange. This micellar polyoxometalate can assemble in water and concentrate substrates; resulting in higher or nearly identical performance compared to traditional catalysts, such as FeSO4. This catalyst can be easily separated from the products and its retrieved polyoxometalates can be repeatedly used without loss of performance; which highlights the application of this important biomass.
