The Er doped Bi7Ti4TaO21 ceramics were prepared using conventional solid-state reaction techniques. Under 980?nm excitation, the intensive green emission was investigated and the up-conversion emission was a two-photo energy transfer process. By using fluorescence intensity ratio technique, the collected data was well fitted to the function of temperature in the temperature range of 175-00?K, revealing the good potential for the development of optical thermometry.
