Mind your own business? Opinions about interference in employees’ lifestyle behaviors by employers in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Worksite health promotion is important because employees spend a lot of time at work. Norms and attitudes play a role in the interference of employers with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with the health and lifestyle of their employees. However, what are limitations to such interference? Fifteen interviews with employers, employees and health professionals are conducted in order to answer this question. These stakeholders were confronted with each other’s norms and attitudes. The responses are based on economic arguments and care arguments. The labor relations play an important role in how the limitations to worksite health promotion are defined. Employers seem more inclined to enforce health behaviors, whereas employees emphasize the importance of voluntary choices. Health professionals are more positive about using social pressure and focus on a ‘healthy organization’ in the future, which is not so compatible with the short-term perspective in SMEs. According to health professionals, good labor relations are an important prerequisite for worksite health promotion. However, they do not focus on the importance of good labor relations for employees’ well-being. Awareness of their norms and the discrepancy of these norms with the norms of employers and employees is important.
